Culture:


  • History: Paraguay has experienced periods of isolation and wars, including the devastating War of the Triple Alliance. Its independence is celebrated on May 14th.

  • Economy: Its economy is based on agriculture, particularly soy and beef. The Itaipú Dam is an important source of hydroelectric power.

  • Music: Paraguayan polka and guarania are traditional musical styles. The Paraguayan harp is also a symbol of its musical culture.

  • Food: Sopa paraguaya, chipá, and mbejú are some of the most characteristic dishes. 

  • Traditions: Patron saint festivals and Independence Day celebrations are key events in Paraguayan culture.

  • José Luis Chilavert: Famous footballer and activist.

  • Lilian Soto: Feminist activist and Paraguayan politician with international influence.

  • Berta  Rojas: A world-renowned classical guitarist, Rojas has   performed internationally, helping to bring greater visibility to Hispanic   culture through music.   

  • Roque Santa Cruz:  A famous soccer player, Santa Cruz has inspired Hispanic   athletes and contributed to the promotion of soccer in the U.S.   

  • José Molinas Vega: An economist and policy adviser, Molinas Vega’s work in   economics has influenced policy decisions that positively affect Hispanic   communities.
